We look forward to seeing you on the course.

Footgolf at Halfpenny Green offers a practical, enjoyable way to combine football skills with golf strategy, right here in South Staffordshire. Our dedicated Footgolf course provides an accessible outdoor activity suitable for families, groups of friends, casual players, and those looking for low-impact exercise.

Footgolf follows straightforward principles: players use a standard size 5 football to navigate a purpose-built course, aiming to kick the ball into oversized holes (typically around 50-60cm in diameter) in as few kicks as possible.

The format mirrors traditional golf but replaces clubs with controlled kicks, making it approachable for people of varying ages and fitness levels. A full round features tees, fairways, and challenges such as bunkers, longer grass areas, and natural obstacles.

At Halfpenny Green, the course sits adjacent to our main 9-hole (18-tee) golf course and driving range, set in attractive Staffordshire countryside.

Many visitors find it more physically engaging than it first appears — the combination of walking the course, accurate kicking, and strategic play provides a solid workout without feeling like conventional exercise.

How to Play

Footgolf is a sport that blends elements of football/soccer and golf, and it’s governed by a simple set of rules to ensure fair play and enjoyment for all participants.

  • Teeing Off: The game starts from the teeing zone, and players aim to get the ball into the hole on the green zone with the fewest kicks possible.

  • Playing the Ball: The ball must be played in a single movement without pushing it. Players must wait for the ball to come to rest before taking the next shot.

  • Order of Play: Similar to golf, the player farthest from the hole kicks first. The order is based on the number of shots taken.

  • On the Green: Once on the green, players should not stand on another player’s line of putt or cast a shadow over their putt.

  • Equipment: The only equipment needed is a standard football and appropriate footwear (no footy boots allowed).

  • Player Conduct: Players are expected to adhere to a code of conduct that includes sportsmanship, safety, and respect for the course and other players.
